Real Life Fantasy

The main inspiration for ‘Real Life Fantasy’ are Studio Ghibli films (mainly Spirited Away) and the significance of colour within these animations. Studio Ghibli films often portray darker themes throughout the film while painting it over with innocent, child-like animations. They are able to express the stark contrast between a free spirited child versus the harsh context of the industrial life.

Similarly to the juxtaposition of floral and mechanics, this collection intends to portray the blurred line between fantasy and reality. With child-like prints across the dress and jacket, the detachable sleeves become a statement of boldness and utility.
